The Galaxy is bleeding to death. People are dying with each new
nightfall as their very souls wither. Their only hope lies in destruction,
and you must teach then to sow it. There is only enough life force
for a few to survive and the supply is rapidly getting short...
Enter a world of fleet combat in an uncertain universe where peace
is more dangerous than war. Command battlefleets across the span of
galactic space and restore the hope of your people. Whether you seek
to destroy your rivals, find a way to heal the galaxy's wounds or
merely survive until all others are dead, victory will not come easily
in a world where the very stars can bleed.
Dying Lights is a tabletop strategy game of fleet combat and survival
for 2-9 players. It is a hybrid of a customizable card game and a
tabletop war game. You build your fleets with points values and send
them into combat across a strategic map, using action cards to give
you an edge in battle against your opponents. Included are all the
cards needed to play, along with a manual that contains rules, storyline
info, and tutorials on basic combat strategy. A single $14.95 set
contains enough cards for up to 6 players, along with at least one
copy of every action card for custom battle decks.
See what the gaming mags are saying about Dying Lights: 'When
it comes to CCG's, there are many choices out on the market today.
Luckily, I believe I have found one of the best in Dying Lights.'
--Legion's Realm
'Dying Lights is a game that gives you everything that you'd want
in a complex space board game like Twilight Imperium, but with half
the complex rules and several highly innovative features...' --RPGNet
'The game has a fantastic background story...' --GamingReport
'There really aren’t any other games like it on the market.'
--D20 Magazine Rack

Dying Lights provides the strategic depth and variety of combat styles
that every wargamer craves without requiring the hugely complex rules
of other space wargames. The rules are simple enough to never require
reference to a book, but complex enough that a good player can always
beat a bigger fleet. A single Dying Lights set has enough cards to
let you play around a table with your friends straight out of the
box, or build a custom, streamlined combat deck for more ruthless
play. And the best news yet for those of you on a budget: a single
Dying Lights box comes with at least one copy of every card in the
basic set. You can customize your fleets and combat decks to your
playing style without spending a fortune. It's the cheapest customizable
card game you'll ever play.

Choose Your Allegiance
Differing not by race, creed or government, the survivors of
the galaxy are split instead by circumstance and by how they
choose to stay alive. Their abilities reflect no advanced technologies
or innate powers, but rather what they are willing to do to
ensure their continued existance. From the overwhelming military
might of the Coreguard to the subtle machinations of the Order
of Hantelle, each faction brings different resources and different
powers to the table.

Take Control
The galaxy is a ghostly shadow, and entire sectors
of space are controlled by tiny fleets of ships. Controlling
the resources of these sectors can increase your military power,
but beware--military strength cannot stop the bleeding of your
spirit. A fleet of starships means nothing if you are dead.
|
|
Prepare Your Armada
The vast armadas of the past have given way to small battlegroups
of ships which duel each other across the vast, empty reaches
of the galaxy. Control and organization of your battlegroups
is simple, but has a profound effect on battle. Use your resources
well, and you can defeat a much more powerful foe. Those who
expect huge numbers of gigantic starships to win the battle
for them will be in for a rude surprise.
|
|
Engage the Enemy
Beyond your control of your fleet, you have the
ingenuity and skill of your commanders. Battle Action cards
represent the clever and cunning moves and attacks that mark
any successful military engagement. Just as you must carefully
build your fleet, you must carefully build your combat deck
to ensure victory.
|
|
Choose Your Deployment
But quick actions and lucky shots cannot win a war--you must
also employ solid tactics in your battles. The proper fleet
formation and combat techniques can turn the tide of a battle,
but an improper tactic can just as easily lead to your own destruction.
|
|
Fight with the very Space Itself
Lastly, you must pay careful attention to the terrain in which
you fight. Drawing an enemy into terrain that favors your fleet
while hindering him poses obvious benefits.

Discover Newer and Deadlier Weapons
Though war has been minimal in the past centuries, it is now
a necessity, and the technological advances of warfare are rapidly
being rediscovered. Developing and deploying new technologies
can give you a significant edge.
